THE COMPANY
Our mission is to support you in your analysis and to provide you with accessible, reliable and effective tools for reducing and decarbonising your energy bill.
FAFCO
Our products feature innovative, simple solutions that can be used at temperatures ranging from -20°C to +80°C.
Using recyclable polymers, our heat exchangers and sensors are flexible, lightweight and highly resistant to chemical and physical attack
Our systems are modular, easy to handle and safe for humans. Tap water without any additional treatment is the main component of our ice accumulators. Glycol water from your heat pumps and chillers, or water from your swimming pools, is used directly as a heat transfer fluid through our heat exchangers and collectors.
OUR VISION IS BASED ON:
- A large proportion of electricity consumption is used to satisfy thermal, heating or cooling needs
- Combustion processes are complex, requiring very regular maintenance and high ancillary consumption
- Simply removing excess heat or cold sometimes consumes as much energy as producing it
- Heat is a co-product of cold production
- Cold and heat are often consumed on the same sites, but at different times or in different equipment
- In many applications, high-temperature systems generate waste, insecurity and discomfort
HISTORY OF FAFCO
FAFCO SA was founded in 1981 by two pioneers in the field of renewable energy and energy saving: Fafco, a Californian company specialising in the manufacture of unglazed solar collectors for swimming pool heating, and Technotherm, a Swedish manufacturer of heating and air conditioning equipment.
The combination of these skills has led to the development of a wide range of heating and cooling solutions for buildings, including reversible heat pumps, numerous industrial heat recovery systems, plastic heat exchangers, atmospheric collectors and ice storage systems.
In 1986, at a time when the oil crisis had limited many energy-saving initiatives, FAFCO SAS decided to focus on two products: solar panels for heating swimming pools and energy storage through cold storage.
This bold and visionary move has enabled the company to position itself in markets that are only just emerging.
IN 2012, FAFCO made a fresh start to support the development of energy management services and bring all its expertise to bear in a globalised market. Storage now comes into its own as a way of meeting the challenges of climate change and the limitations of electricity grids. The EREN GROUP, a renowned investor specialising in renewable energies, is now supporting the company in its development.
IN 2017, EREN relocated FAFCO near Dijon.
Faced with the current climate and energy challenges, FAFCO is building a new production unit. A true demonstrator of our know-how in terms of self-consumption and Zero Carbon, the site incorporates the very best in terms of energy optimisation for buildings :
A 110 kWp photovoltaic roof
An R290 natural fluid heat pump to heat and cool the buildings
Our Solar Ice system with Atmosolar collector to optimise
COP / EER
An XM 1400 kWh ICEBAT with internal melt for self-consumption cooling of production processes
An EVLink electric vehicle charging point from EDF
The site also boasts a new 400m² R&D platform equipped with 4 instrumented test benches.
THE EREN GROUP
A shareholder since 2012, the EREN Group is supporting Fafco in its development, industrialisation and marketing strategy in France and internationally, and is promoting productive synergies with the Group’s other energy-related activities. By joining forces with EREN, Fafco benefits from the strengthened financial capacity, experience and global reach of the EREN group.
About EREN: created in 2012, EREN is the first group dedicated to saving natural resources. Through its various holdings and subsidiaries, the EREN Group offers its customers and partners reliable, innovative and competitive solutions for saving natural resources. EREN favours a model in which the Group manages and finances these technologies and offers access to its customers in the form of a service. EREN is participating in the development of such technologies in three areas of activity: energy saving, effluent treatment, and infrastructure safety and lifespan extension. In addition, the EREN Group develops and operates power stations that produce electricity from renewable resources.
