ICEBAT LATENT STORAGE PRINCIPLE
The FAFCO ice storage “ICEBAT” operates with immersed vertical tube heat exchangers. It uses the solidification of water into ice to store cold in the form of “latent heat”.
A SIMPLE PRINCIPLE
ICEBAT acts like a battery that can be charged and discharged as required
TO LOAD THE COLD STORAGE, A VOLUME OF WATER IS TRANSFORMED INTO ICE AROUND
HEAT EXCHANGERS.
TO UNLOAD AND RECOVER THE COLD STORAGE, THIS ICE IS MELTED.
Water is the best material for cold storage: available everywhere, economical and with no impact on the environment.
Water has the highest latent heat of all known liquids.
ICEBATS are 8 times more compact than sensitive storage (chilled water) of equivalent capacity.
